Karen Gordon
Karen Gordon is a senior strategic Human Resources Professional and Coach with specialist expertise in HR Management, Total Rewards, Career Management, and Performance Management.
Karen is a graduate of Dalhousie University. She is a Certified Executive Coach (CEC). She recently completed the Graduate Certificate in Executive Coaching from Royal Road University. She is a Chartered Professional in Human Resources (CPHR), and has a “Certified Compensation Professional Designation” (CCP) and a “Certified Benefits Professional Designation” (CBP). She also is a past member of the faculty for WorldatWork and has held numerous board positions within the organization. Karen currently serves on the Boards of Alice Housing as Co-Chair and was recently on the board of CPHR NS as Member at Large. She has spoken on HR Management and Career Management on several occasions, both locally and nationally.
Karen has spent over 13 years providing consulting expertise to a variety of clients in both public and private sector. Prior to this she spent several years in a senior HR leadership role managing Human Resources for a global organization as their Director of Human Resources, and brings a wealth of “hands on” experience to her clients.
Selected accomplishments include the following:
- Led the development of several HR strategies and plans, partnering with senior management to continually ensure the alignment with business goals and the facilitation of organizational change.
- Coached a large manufacturing organization in developing a comprehensive team that changed behaviours that led to enhanced performance.
- Led several large and medium sized career transition programs that resulted in providing transitioned employees with the required job search skills and confidence needed to engage with potential employers and land a new role.
- Led several large job description writing reviews to ensure job details were captured to ensure job evaluations could be performed in an effective and valuable manner.
- Developed and documented several HR strategies, processes and policies for various clients which continually enhanced employee engagement and aligned Business and HR Strategies.
- Established job evaluation plans for various organizations to ensure they meet the needs of the organization. Simplified several existing job evaluation processes by developing grade banding systems saving significant senior management time and resources.
- Developed and executed several total compensation surveys and reviews for clients in a broad range of industries that provided the external equity to support pay structures.
- Developed pay for performance systems for organizations that supported morale, facilitated recruitment efforts, and strongly rewarded top performance.
- Designed and delivered a full range of leadership development programs including coaching for management, 360 feedback reviews, employee training and development and succession planning.
